Virtualization | what does it mean? and what are it’s types and uses?

why does Virtualization become our present and future? and if it has a such importance, how
can we use it and know all about this concept?. nowadays, Virtualization is considered the most effective way to reduce IT expenses and increase efficiency for all business sizes, where it allows
you to distribute a physical machine’s full capacity among many users or environments. so, let’s
show the Virtualization meaning, types, and the best platforms.

Virtualization meaning

  It refers to process of creating a virtual instance of something, including virtual applications, servers, storage, and networks in a layer abstracted from the actual hardware. This enables you to use this virtual machine on another server, or even in another country, and feel like that it is  your physical computer. Actually, the most common use of it, is running multiple operating  systems on a computer system simultaneously.

what is the Nested Virtualization?

          It refers to the ability of running a virtual machine within another by running one or more  hyper-visors inside another hyper-visor without need of homogeneity between guest and host virtual machines, so, you can deploy application virtualization type on a machine created using hardware type.

The most common ways to create virtual servers

        There are three areas of creating virtual servers:

-♦ full virtualization

Uses a special kind of software called a hyper-visor which interacts directly with the physical server’s CPU and disk space and works as operating system of this virtual server.

-♦ para-virtualization

By using this way, the guest servers are aware of one another and every guest OS know the demands the other OSes are placing on the physical server.

-♦ OS-level virtualization 

Here, the virtualization capability is part of the host OS instead of installing the hyper-visor
itself, so, there are limitations such as, guest servers must run the same OS of the host.

Virtualization Types

The most common types of virtual services are:

1-Application

Where applications get virtualized and are delivered from a server to the end user’s device.

2-Desktop

        Which separates the desktop environment from the physical device and configured as a “virtual desktop infrastructure” (VDI).

3-Hardware

         It is made possible by a virtual machine manager (VM) called the hyper-visor which creates virtual versions of computers and OSes to build together the virtual machines.

4-Network

         The act of dividing bandwidth into multiple, independent channels, each of which can be assigned to servers and devices in real time.

5-Storage

        Storing your data in a virtual storage of another server, which called Clouding.
